our faces shine like moses' and we meet God in the call of the eagle wild in the straggle of pine and spruce and the step of foot breaking frozen path
"remember to look up" he would tell me, my husband back home to his wife who watches her shoes, so i whisper it into the winter and it nods and
i.look.up.
see the chalet roofs carved steep like rocky ledge
the body print in white where mother in law laid down and made an angel rise for the beauty of the morning
see the sun in chorus of shining yellows
i stand and breathe the holy that is God around us and we enter his tabernacle,
babies in tow,
and all of creation claps--
an applause that echoes long after we've disappeared in car and tire--
an applause that keeps us rising, keeps us climbing,
keeps us heaven
scanning
in the valley of house and life beyond
(so grateful to be home in husband's embrace but carrying close the mountain muse... i would live there if i could, in the carve of the white and grey, but to know they are there, is sometimes enough, and knowing you are there, readers, always enough--thank you)

Gorgeous--words and pics and the looking and lifting up. So glad you were able to experience a mountain retreat with family.
Have you listened to the song, "Wild Eagle", by Andrew White?

I found it a few months before Christmas, and had to buy the CD for my stocking. This song gets to me. God is calling us to look up, Emily, like your husband. We are so loved.
Thank you for sharing the beauty.
Beautiful, Emily! Glad you had a good trip. By the way, Piper saw the photo of Aiden in his little tux and wanted to know his name. I told her his name is Handsome. She nodded and said, "Hansum." :-)
So beautiful! I often forget to look let alone look up, I needed this friend! Im glad you were able to get away and enjoy the mountains, I always seem to find Father easier there.
just beautiful friend. so glad you were able to get away to such a pretty place. lovely photos!
I've always, always, even in the darkest doubt, found Him in the mountains. Isn't it impossible not to?
Love to you, friend, and glad you've returned safe.
looking up always .. and arriving home to love and home .. a real blessing from above and right in front of you..big hugs to you my friend
LOVE the pics and words. Thanks for sharing and ENJOY!!! btw, thanks for your encouraging words to me. heart
i love that your husband knew you'd need reminding....i thougth about how much i love mountains today. ours are gentle and purple. and i love driving the muddy road to get to the almost top of mine.
Thank YOU!~ That's beautiful!

the sharing of it is well done ...
And I give a standing O too. The sun on the white is blinding glory here today and we rejoiced at the melting. Winter is not over but it's so sweet to see a glimpse of spring.
Love to you, Em.
smiles. i have a friend that always says look up...and yes God can be found there...i suggest periodically looking down as he is there too...smiles...great snaps em...
this is smashing...like an avalanche. It's so powerful...but fragile too. The glimpses of holy are so hard to capture but you do it so well.
What a wonder Em! It is glorious. I need to constantly remind myself to look up. I have a tendency to look down at my feet when I'm out walking. I miss so much!
Glad to know you are home safe and sound and so happy you had the chance to be in such a beautiful place and get filled.
Much love to you.
From one who always feels like the only one who notices the clouds: Amen! So glad your time was glorious and your homecoming, as well. Mountains are amazing, aren't they?
What a great reminder, I often find God in the beauty of His creation. Yet I spend a lot of time focused on my feet. I wonder (no condemnation, just wonder) how many glimpses of Him I've missed because I've been focused on where I am going rather than seeing where I am?
Thanks for the mountain view...I have the sea for viewing the majesty of God.
i always feel closest to god in the mountains or at the sea..yes and thanks for the reminder to look up..
I love the idea of looking "up" at the snow angel. And just being in the mountains --- there's such an elevating energy. When I take my daily walks in my flatlands home, I look up at the cathedral of trees and see God in their beauty.
Beautiful pictures. Beautiful snow. Beautiful words.
Lucky you.
Cheers,
Joy...
"but to know they are there"
I miss you, E. You are love.
beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I have always dreamed of living in the cradle of mountains. I feel sacredness at the feet of them looking up and at the top looking out and beyond my small self.
What wonderful, encouraging thoughts!
We have sun on our snow today, too!
keeps us heaven

YES, YES, YES.
Amen. Great captures. XX
Emily,
This so speaks my heart--I am such a mountain girl and like you, would live there if I could.
"but to know they are there, is sometimes enough" . . . Yes, almost . . .
Looking up with you!

After the week I've experienced I so needed to read this, Emily. I will be looking up. No, I am looking up now. Thank you.

Oh, your trip! Your glorious trip--and you shared it with us. Thank you.
even i feel refreshed by that! :)
E-zactly. We're buried in the grey and rain and cold of late winter here on the west coast but today, the sun broke through and it was like Christmas. Lift up your eyes, we say. Thank you, Emily - as always for your soul as much as your words.
yes. look. up.
how could i forget? thanks.
